DE Theatre

Course Description

This Dual Enrollment class is paced to align with THR120 offered through Southern Union. This is a theatre appreciation course equivalent.
 
Students will be enrolled in my google classroom for specific assignment and course information, but this page will be updated with summaries of the learning planned each week.
 
 
April 25-May 6th - WE are reading! We should finish by next Thursday to review for our exam before our sweet seniors leave on the 6th! The Juniors will enjoy a follow up Harry Potter Movie our last week without seniors.
April 12th-April 21st - Students will be writing their comparison essays in class (April 22nd we begin reading Harry Potter)
Week 29 - 32 - Students are preparing to read Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. The plot reorders events of the past. Students who have never read Harry Potter will get a chance to meet the characters and students who know them well will recall their relationships and events. Because prior knowledge is critical to understanding the play, as it rewrites history and changes the course of relationships, students will watch the first three movies.
Week 27 and 28- Harvest abstract due 3/3 8:00am - then we will review/ study for Quiz 3 will be Tues 3/8 in class
week 25 and 26-Read Harvest
week 24- Lecture 6 lecture on The Meaning of Theatre
week 23 - abstracts due Thursday start lecture 6
week 22 - watch performance of the play and start abstract
week 21 - finish reading
Week 20 - We will begin reading The Glass Menagerie
Week 19 - we will start lecture 5
Week 18 - Quiz 2 test - this counts as your midterm
Week 17 - Hamlet abstract work and quiz 2 review
Week 15 and 16 - Read Shakespeare
Week 14- Shakespeare notes
Week 13 - Abstract work week for Earnest - due Monday Nov 8th
Week 10, 11, and 12 - We will start lecture 3 leading up to reading The Importance of Being Earnest
Weeks 8 - 9: Students will finish reading Ezigbo
Week 7 - We will review and study at the beginning of the week - Test One is Wed. Students will then begin Ezigbo the Spirit Child
Week 6  Abstract work days at the beginning of the week. Abstracts due Thursday. We will then do review notes for Quiz 1 over lecture 1 and 2
Week 5- Finish reading Oedipus and begin abstract
Week 4 - Intro then begin reading Oedipus
Week 3 - Wrapping up Lecture 1
Week 2 - Lecture 1
