1st Grade Students Celebrate "Earth Day"

Inspired by the mind and efforts of a first grade student, the Glenwood Gators are making an effort to go green ‪starting Monday, April 24 in observance of Earth Day. Ella Grace Worley, a first grade student in Mrs. Williams’s class at Glenwood School, along with her classmates wanted to find a way to include the school in an effort to save the Earth from trash. Through the generous donation of Home Depot of Phenix City, the school was gifted 4 paper recycling bins to jumpstart the Going Green project.  The bins will be placed around the school campus to encourage students to be conscious of their paper waste. The first grade classes will also celebrate the day with a campus trash clean up. The hope to continue and expand the program in the following school year with a Gators Go Green club for students to learn ways and be proactive in making the school a recyclable friendly campus. Headmaster Frankie Mitchum said, "All students can make a difference, no matter how young they may be. Ella Grace is a shining example of this and I'm very proud of her efforts to make Glenwood "Go Green"!"
