1st Grade - Arts in Imagination

Course Description

Week 1 (August 6-10)
  • Students will become familiar with the policies and procedures of the Fine Arts classroom. We will discuss expectations and look forward to an exciting school year! (Standard: Visual Arts 1.4)
Week 2  (August 13-17)
  • Students will explore the color wheel through literature and games. Students will collaborate to create a class color wheel. (Standard: Visual Arts 1.1)
Week 3 (August 20-24)
  • Students will complete their collaboration project. 
  • Students will explore imaginative play with props during a directed dramatic activity. (Standard: Theater 1.8)
Week 4-Week 8 (August 27-September 21)
  • Students will be preparing their artwork and personal notes for Grandparent's Day.
Week 9, 10 and 11 (September 24- October 12)
  • Students will be creating original works for the Original Works fundraiser.
Weeks 12 - 20 (October 15 - Christmas Break)
  • Students will be preparing for their Christmas Showcase. They will be dancing, singing,  decorating their set pieces, and writing their own speaking parts.
Weeks 21-28 (January 7 - February 22)
  • Students will be creating atrtwork for their school art show in the following categories: paint and oils, watercolors, collage, sculpture, drawing, and photography.
