Kindergarten News โ September Edition A month full of learning, discovery, and fall fun!
Literacy Focus
This month weโre learning the letters:
B, T, L, N, and M
We'll practice recognizing, writing, and making the sounds of each letter. Weโre also reviewing short vowel sounds and starting to blend sounds to read CVC words like hat, bed, and log. These early reading skills are so important as we begin our journey into reading!
Math Corner
In math, weโre working on: Understanding teen numbers
Counting by tens
Using directional words (above, below, next to, between)
Weโll be using hands-on activities, games, and songs to help make these concepts stick!
Social Studies โ Community Helpers
We are learning all about community helpersโthe people who help make our communities safe, healthy, and happy. Weโre especially excited to welcome some special guests into our classroom this month:
Nurse Lindsey
Officer Mark
Pastor Ethan
Paramedic Colten
Theyโll share about their important roles and how they help others every day!
Apple Fun & Johnny Appleseed
September means applesโand weโll be doing a whole unit all about them! Tasting different types of apples
Graphing our favorites
Apple crafts and science experiments
Learning the story of Johnny Appleseed and how he helped plant apple trees across the country
