Welcome Back Gators!

Glenwood Media Center

As Glenwood's librarian, I serve to empower students to be critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information.  My job is to instill a love of learning in ALL students and ensure equitable access to information.  I will also be collaborating  with classroom teachers to design and implement lessons and units of instruction, and assess student learning and instructional effectiveness.  I am confident we will have a great school year, and I look forward to working with your child!
STUDENTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO READ AN AR BOOK FOR AT LEAST 15 MINUTES EACH NIGHT.  THEY MAY HAVE A PARENT OR GRANDPARENT SIGN THE ATTACHED FORM INDICATING THAT THE REQUIREMENT HAS BEEN MET. STUDENTS MAY BRING THEIR COMPLETED FORM TO THE LIBRARY AND TRADE IT IN FOR A PRIZE DURING THEIR SCHEDULED MULTIMEDIA CLASS. HAPPY READING!

Classes

Welcome to a new school year! I am very excited to have the opportunity to teach your child this year. I am thrilled about having the opportunity to serve as the elementary school's media specialist this year. Developing a love and appreciation of reading is fundamental in a student's early school career. I believe that creative and interactive methods are the best way to facilitate student learning. As a class, we will take many different approaches to sharing books that we've read, as well as work on developing many skills that will aid your child across the curriculum. I hope that you will see your child's ability to express himself/herself improve as the year goes on. You should also notice improvement in your child's ability to access and retrieve information from a variety of different sources. We will certainly be utilizing technology in our classes with our wonderful new Chromebooks! On a personal note,
I am happily married and have 3 children, two of which are now Glenwood Alumni, and one that is currently attending Glenwood. I myself went to Glenwood for 10 years as well. I enjoy seeing old friends and teaching their children. Glenwood really is one big family. I received my Associates Degree from Chattahoochee Valley Community College and my Bachelors Degree in Education from Troy University where I graduated with honors. While at Troy, I was a member of the "Sound of the South" marching band and was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to march in Washington, D.C. in President George H. W. Bush's inaugural parade. I was also a member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority.
I have been teaching at Glenwood for 12years.  This will be my 4th year as media specialist.
I love children and enjoy sharing my knowledge with them. I truly believe that the profession of teaching is a calling, and I have been truly blessed with the opportunity to teach at Glenwood.
