8/23- Orange Out *wear ALL ORANGE

8/30- USA Day *Wear your red white & blue. Show your patriotic side!

9/6- Camo Day *Pull out your hunting gear.

9/13- Black Out *wear ALL BLACK

9/20- Hawaiian Day *grab a lei, hula skirt or tropical shirt

9/27- Spirit Day (HOMECOMING)

10/4- Space Day *think sparkles, space buns, NASA, stars, planets, aliens J

10/10- OPEN

10/18- Jersey Day *wear your favorite jersey!

10/25- White Out *wear ALL WHITE

11/1- Neon Day *Find your brightest colors. Put them all on!

Weekly Lesson Plans for August 19th- 23rd
 
Reading and Phonics:  We will review all of the Short Vowel sounds and review consonants.  We will be reading in our Fun with Pets reader.  We will have a Chart Test on Friday, Aug. 23rd over all the letter sounds.  Example:  "a" in apple is the letter a, "c" in cat is the letter c.  (Use the inside cover of the Handbook to review.)
 
Spelling:  List 1 words:  man, ran, net, sit, hot, cub, sun, bus, the, a
Monday- Spelling Once due
Wednesday- 10 sentences due
We will test on List 1 on Thursday, Aug. 22nd.
 
Math:  Concepts: adding 1-5 fact families, counting 1-10, number words, patterning, and writing numbers.
No Weekly Math Test this week.
 
Environment:   We will learn about Manners at School, Church, Home, and out in Public.
 
Language: We will learn that a sentence makes a complete thought and has a capital letter and ending mark.  We will learn about Statements, questions, and exclamation sentences. 
 
Bible:  We will do Daily Devotions.
 
Homework Assignments:
Monday:  Work on Sentences
Tuesday:  Do Math Sheet and finish Spelling sentences
Wednesday:  Study for Spelling Test
Thursday:  Study for Chart 2 Test
Friday: Spelling Once

Welcome to First Grade!  I have been teaching for 21 years, with 9 of those being at Glenwood.  I am married and have two boys that attend Glenwood and one attending Southern Union.  I also graduated from Glenwood many years ago and Columbus State University.  I enjoy cooking, spending time with family, and ,of course, teaching.
