General Chemistry

Chemistry covers the properties of matter, its composition, and its changes. Chemistry, like most subjects in science, builds on concepts and skills throughout the year, so it is essential that students keep up with the work as it is presented.

Week 4: (Jan 28 -Feb 1): Continue Working on Balancing Word Problems. Test Next Week.
 
Week 3: (Jan 22-25): OFF Monday.  Balancing Equations Worksheet Packet to be completed by Tuesday, Quiz on Wednesday.  Begin Working with Balancing Word Problems.
 
Week 2: (Jan 14-18):  Quiz on Monday over First semester concepts.  Begin Study on Balancing Chemical Equations.  SCIENCE FAIR WEDNESDAY - Students need to set up before school on Wednesday, Pick up all material before 4pm Wednesday. 
All Chemistry Students are required to submit a Science Fair Project
PLEASE NOTE: Only Local Winners are required to write the Research Paper!

Week 8:  (Dec 3-7): Review Monday, Quiz on Moles & Mole ratios Tuesday.  Begin Studying Chemical reaction types. Please see Note above on Science Fair!
 
Week 7 (Nov 26-30):  Begin Study of Moles & Mole Ratios.
 
Week 6:  (Nov 12-16):  Off Monday.  Tuesday Review, Wednesday Nomenclature Test. Thursday/Friday, Possible Lab.
 
Week 5: (Nov 5-9):  Wrap up Section On Chemical Nomenclature, Test Early Next Week.  In-Service on Tuesday.
 
Week 4:  (Oct 29 - Nov 2):  Continue Work on Chemical Bonding and Nomenclature.
 
Week 3: (Oct 22-26): Review Monday, Test Tuesday.  Begin Study of Chemical Bonding.

Week 4: (Aug 27-31):  Complete section on Density & Matter; review Tuesday for Test Wednesday.  Lab Procedures & Density Lab Thursday & Friday.
 
Week 3 (Aug 20-24):  Finish Experiment Design;  Begin Study of Matter.  Lab (Experiment Design) on Friday.
 
Week 2 (Aug 13-17):  Review Mon-Tues for Test Wednesday.  Begin Discussion of Fundamentals of Experimental Design.
 
Week 1 (Aug 6 -10):  Begin Study of the Metric System, Scientific Notation, Significant Digits, and the Scientific Method.  Student Must return the signed syllabus and Lab Safety Contract by Tuesday (Graded assignments!)
