#40: a) Draw a coordinate plane and make the camp at the origin (0,0). Go down 5 and right 8 and put a point there for the waterfall. Write the ordered pair and use this point and the origin to plug into the distance formula.

b) Draw a line to the origin from the point and line to the x-axis from the point forming a triangle. Use the lengths of each side to plug into the Pythagorean theorem: a^2 + b^2 = c^2.

c) Plug into the midpoint formula.
